Snake Styles
☆☆ ...SNAKE STYLES: ...the SNAKE is another of the famous and well known styles of martial arts training and practice, almost universal like the snake itself...SNAKE STYLES can be primarily grouped as STRIKING styles (high, mid and low gate attacks/ targets), this includes styles which have "poison;" and CONSTRICTING or grappling styles- and often these two are mixed in various ways....Snake Styles, especially in the CHINESE traditions but also in other cultures, are primarily INTERNAL styles, for instance the Snake is one of the key elements of traditional Tai Chi training, along with the Crane and Bird styles in general...the training includes circling and coiling motions of all sizes and very firm and stable but also highly mobile stance and footwork- including groundwork...the jing or energy is very highly focused and makes use of coiling, spiraling and silk reeling energies; as well as pin point accuracy and use of the "point," use of the finger-tips and open hand is emphasized...SNAKE style training is often the bridge art between EXTERNAL and INTERNAL style training due to it's breathing methods, tactics and techniques, and energies...and is generally not a beginner style...this also makes it an excellent supplement to almost any other style, there is much, much more than this- snakes fly, they swim, they burrow into the earth- and they shed their skin and transform, which means they are also key parts of the spiritual healing arts...a most noble and excellent style, with a huge array of techniques and applications.
