Butterfly Qigong Progression
So, in response to some questions re: the zoom Butterfly Qigong Classes I am offering, I wanted to clarify a few things, 1) It is designed to be taught online, as such very easy to view and follow. Each of the 18 methods in the Level One Course will be taught in a simple ready stance, which can be adapted to a seated position and many of the methods can be adapted to horse stance (and other stances/movements) for those ready for that. I go over all this in the classes, and in fact have one student who due to health reasons is learning from a seated position. BTW, this is how I initially learned the Shaolin Butterfly style, seed techniques/basics learned from a standing position in place (we used a different, more challenging stance but ready stance is fine for our purposes here). I demonstrate from multiple angles as well so you get to see each method from a variety of views. We also cover the important principles/concepts/energy and the like for each method in each class, including breathing, rooting, and much more. Butterfly Style is based on the Infinity Symbol/Figure 8 and is a high, internal Shaolin style. Yes, lol, Shaolin has internal styles. CLICK here to read the Butterfly Qigong Affirmation and Path.
2) A video of the material presented in each class will also be provided for those who participate for home review, and my book on Shaolin Butterfly style and my website serve as "manuals," plus I am always available for questions, review, feedback. Eventually I will have this course on quality downloads and available as an online course, perhaps Udemy, but will still offer the zoom and live training as that allows for feedback from me.
3) When people learn this material well and are ready they can proceed to the Shaolin Butterfly QiGong Level 2 Curriculum, which will involve some simple stepping and more turning and twisting and other new methods but all easily followed online/zoom. Butterfly QiGong Level 3 features seated qigong and meditation methods, such as “silent sitting” or mindfulness meditation (also known as Chan or Zen); pulling silk qigong, seated dan tien qigong, and other inner methods of nei gong and shen gong. There is also a Shaolin Butterfly QiGong Standing Posture Routine (ding shi) I have put together featuring some of the unique standing postures of the rare internal style, such as the Butterfly Cocoon Posture, the Lotus Palm Standing Posture, the Five Star Posture, and the Lotus Butterfly Palm Posture. The Standing Postures Set can be learned anytime after learning Level One Shaolin Butterfly Qigong and practicing it daily for at least one month. There are various breathing and inner nei gung methods which are associated with all of these as well, as people gain skill and the practice becomes more natural. Enjoy.
4) Anyone who would like to be trained to teach Shaolin Butterfly Qigong, I am here to support and guide you. For that we would also need to get together so I can review the material hands on with you. I have practiced Shaolin Butterfly Style and the Qigong for over 30 years now, as well as allied arts of Shaolin, Tai Chi, Qigong, and Reiki Healing/ Spiritual Energy Healing Arts and have trained many thousands of people including numerous instructors, including other Sifu/Masters/Grandmasters...my teacher who I learned this from is the headmaster of the Shaolin Five Form Fist system, of which the Shaolin Butterfly style is a key component of, what he called the, "inner connector style." It is a rare, high, and sophisticated internal style from a true lineage. All this is detailed in my book and much is on my website.
BTW, I have also led public seminars on rare Shaolin Butterfly style for the Action Martial Arts Mega Weekend events in Atlantic City, NJ- the worlds largest and best martial arts and all things related to the arts expo in the world- as well as for the Karate Union Hall of Fame- of which I am also an inductee of both of these fine organizations...numerous well known experts have complimented me and encouraged me to continue to share this art for the benefit of the public and to preserve it.
OK, I hope to see you in a class sometime, the zoom course is also designed so people can drop in for one class, or take them all...and will be repeating regularly throughout the year, so stay tuned, and see you in the next class.
